Gnu Jungle Cruise Adventures

Have you heard the latest gnus?! A gnu is an African antelope, by the way, just a little bit of Jungle Cruise humor! Back at the end of January Disney announced they’re going to enhance the Jungle Cruise ride at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom by building on the story of the cruise! This includes humor, wildlife, and skipper heart. With these enhancements come the opportunity to reflect on diversity in the world around us. Let’s head to the backside of this article and see what Disney Parks Blog let us know we can expect!

Enhancements

First up are several new scenes along the river that are all interconnected on the cruise. Don’t worry! Our skippers will still continue to give us those legendary comedic tones we all know and love. The story begins with a trapped safari party finding itself up a tree after their journey doesn’t quite go as expected.

Alberta Falls

Diving deeper we learn about Alberta Falls, the granddaughter of the world-renowned Dr. Albert Falls. Dr. Falls is the proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd. What will we learn about these two characters? Where is their journey taking us? Check out this exclusive interview with Alberta falls featured in a 1938 issue of The Daily Gbus.

Speaking of Alberta Falls, have you heard about her newest companion: Kamaka the kākāpō ? Known for their clumsiness, being flightless, and gigantic they are one of the most interesting birds found in New Zealand’s rainforests. They are also a critically endangered species and with the help of Disney Parks Blog and Walt Disney Imagineering, guests will be introduced to this awkward clumsy bird!

Imagineer Exclusive

The expansion of this classic ride’s story is brought to you by imagineers like Kevin Lively, a former Jungle Cruise Skipper, now Imagineer! The Jungle Cruise received some of it’s first enhancements decades ago as a tradition brought on by Walt Disney himself. Check out this awesome video Disney Parks Blog dropped earlier this year to give us some exclusive details to come!

The Jungle Cruise is one of my favorite rides to do over and over again and I can’t wait to hear all the gnu puns and jokes coming our way!
