Disneyland Expansion HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW
WOAH! This is HUGE news lovebugs! Disneyland filed for an application with the city of Anaheim on March 25th to update it’s outdated 1990 proposal to add a second gate and add to the Downtown district. This begins their process of getting their proposals updated so they can start to lay the groundwork for what will be a development and expansion for DECADES to come!

With these updated approvals comes future flexibility and increased opportunity for the Disneyland Resort to expand on integrated experiences for guests.
The current proposals intact limit how Disneyland can expand and what they can offer guests. These update proposals will allow Disneyland to build additional theme park attractions, give guests more entertainment, hotel rooms, shopping, dining, and my favorite: parking!

Limitations that are hindering expansion include zoning. The traditional approach limit’s Disney’s ability to integrate more theme park experiences. With an updated approval they can develop and build throughout Disney properties with ease.

While there aren’t any specific lands or attractions in mind ideas from neighboring Disney Parks include:
A Tangled area where guests board a gondola to the lantern festival and afterwards can dine in a restaurant just like The Snuggly Ducking in the film (coming to Tokyo DisneySea)
A Frozen themed land where guests can visit Arendelle on a boat ride and then dine inside a castle (coming to Tokyo DisneySea)
Zootopia as seen under construction in Shanghai Disneyland
Toy Story Land as seen in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the WDW Resort in Orlando, FL
Tron roller coaster, currently in Shanghai Disneyland and under construction at WDW’s Magic Kingdom Park in Orlando, FL
Neverland area where guests can take a boat ride following the Lost Boys and then go on a journey to Pixie Hollow. This area would include a restaurant with views inspired by the Lost Boys’ hideout
An expanded Downtown Disney area with more dining experiences, shopping, live music, and shows based off of the Disney Springs experience
This one is speculation based on the map provided by DisneylandForward : A possible new Wakanda area that resembles Mount Bashenga as seen in the map below…be sure to zoom in!
Like Walt Disney once famously said “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world”. I hope these proposals bring about a whole new world for Disney lovers and fans alike!
Be sure to read more on the expansion and proposal over at the DisneylandForward project website and be sure to sign up for updates!
