So I’ve seen the TikTok videos circulate about whisking and whisking and all this time to make this whipped coffee 🥴 but I have a secret🤫: there’s an EASIER recipe and it’s THE original way to make it! The reason so many people are making this is because it’s easy and you probably have the ingredients at home already during this corona quarantine!
Ingredients for 1 cup:
•2 tbsp of ANY kind of instant coffee
•2 tbsp of sugar (unless you like it strong then don’t add any)
•2 tbsp of water (any temperature)
•3 Ice cubes
•Cocktail shaker if you have one if not: plastic wrap and any cup or glass!
•Milk (as much as you want and ANY kind: can be almond, whole, hemp, fat free, soy, WHATEVER!)
•Creamer (optional again for sweetness)
TO MAKE:
In a cup or shaker add your instant coffee, sugar, and water. Cover. Shake for about 30 seconds and VOILÀ whipped/ frappé coffee!
In a glass, pour milk and creamer and mix! Add ice, or not, up to you! Then top with your whipped coffee concoction. And enjoy! I like to mix the frappe into my milk so it blends and oy vey it’s HEAVEN!
This easy as pie recipe actually stems from an accidental invention by a Nesacafé representative named Dimitris Vakondios. It was 1957 at the International Trade Fair in the city of Thessaloniki and Dimitris was working for Nestlé, who was introducing a new chocolate beverage for children that was produced instantly in a shaker. During his break, he wanted to drink his regular Nescafé Classic but couldn’t find any hot water, so he mixed the instant coffee with water in a shaker, creating the first Frappe coffee. I haven’t found any official articles on this to source it but there are a ton of other people who claim the same if you Google it. AND I believe it because I tried it and it is WAY easier to make than the TikTok Dalgona trend.
